GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL STUDENTS

Essential Items All FLENHIHBS Students Must Have

In addition to the program-specific uniform requirements, the Florence Nightingale Higher Institute of Health and Biomedical Science (FLENHIHBS) expects all students to obtain the following items for their studies and clinical training:

• A nurse’s watch or wristwatch with a second hand for taking vital signs and tracking time-sensitive interventions
• One pair of surgical scissors for cutting bandages, dressings, etc.
• A clinical thermometer for assessing patient temperatures
• A retractable measuring tape to measure body dimensions like height, limbs, head circumference, etc.
• One tourniquet for restricting blood flow when drawing blood or starting IVs
• A sphygmomanometer (blood pressure cuff) and stethoscope for measuring blood pressure
• One 50gm roll of cotton wool for procedures like wound cleaning
• One packet of examination gloves to maintain infection control when working with patients

These items instill professional habits and responsibilities in our students. Having their own basic clinical supplies reduces waste and teaches preparedness. All equipment should be kept neat, clean, and in working order.

We aim for students to take pride in their tools and use them safely and appropriately. This dress code ensures students have essential items ready for diverse real-world learning experiences during their studies at FLENHIHBS.
