Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Sciences

The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences (BMLS) at the Florence Nightingale Higher Institute of Health and Biomedical Science (FLENHIHBS) provides the skills and knowledge to begin an impactful career as a medical lab scientist.
The 4-year BMLS curriculum includes:
- Microbiology – Identify pathogens like bacteria, viruses, parasites
- Clinical Chemistry – Analyze blood and body fluids for biomarkers
- Hematology – Study blood cells and hematologic diseases
- Molecular Diagnostics – Perform genetic and molecular testing
- Instrumentation – Use lab technology like spectrophotometers, cell counters
- Quality Control – Ensure accuracy of testing procedures and results
Students develop expertise through lab courses and 1,500 hours of supervised clinical placements in hospital labs and clinics. The program is designed to meet the requirements for medical lab science licensure and employment.
